Novato South Little League Scholarship Program
At Novato South Little League, we believe every child deserves the chance to play baseball and experience the joy, camaraderie, and personal growth it brings. We are committed to eliminating financial barriers so all children in our community can join the game, regardless of their family’s circumstances.
Key Components of the NSLL Scholarship Program
Welcoming and Supportive Environment
We understand that requesting assistance can feel difficult. That’s why we ensure all scholarship applications are handled with respect, confidentiality, and understanding.
- Families can request assistance through an online form.
- Applications are reviewed confidentially by the NSLL Scholarship Committee, a small group of board members dedicated to ensuring fairness and privacy throughout the process.
Scholarship Options
We offer two levels of support based on your family’s needs:
- Full Scholarship: Covers 100% of registration fees and any required equipment.
- Partial Scholarship: Covers a portion of registration fees, with flexible payment options for the remaining balance.
Scholarship Guidelines:
- Scholarships must be reapplied for each season and are not automatically renewed.
- Families may request assistance for each child who wishes to play.
- Scholarships are not available to families whose children:
- Participate in travel or club baseball
- Take private baseball lessons.
- If these activities are discovered after a scholarship is granted, the scholarship will be revoked, and full league fees will apply.
Required Documentation:
To apply for a scholarship, families must provide:
- An explanation of why a scholarship is being requested.
- Documentation demonstrating an immediate hardship, such as: Medical issues, Unemployment, Most recent tax return, Written documentation showing approval of current participation in an assistance program (e.g., food stamps, SSI proof of free/reduced lunch, SNAP, WIC, or foster care status).
Volunteer Exchange Program
NSLL values community involvement and believes in giving back to support the league.
Families receiving scholarships are required to contribute up to 10 hours per scholarship during the season or secure a sponsorship for the league. This program ensures everyone contributes to the success of our league while fostering a sense of community.
Opportunities to fulfill this requirement include:
- Volunteer: Coaching, Opening/Closing night events, Fundraisers, Snack bar shifts, Field maintenance, Other league operations.
- Sponsorship: Families may fulfill their requirement by obtaining a sponsor for the league.
Affordable Participation for All
In addition to scholarships, NSLL offers additional financial support:
- Sibling Discounts: Reduced fees for families with multiple children participating.
- Tee Ball and Little Sluggers Fee Reduction: Lower registration fees to encourage early participation in baseball.
- Equipment Assistance: Loaner gear is available for families unable to purchase equipment.
Application Process
- Complete the scholarship application form
- Submit any required documentation to verify eligibility.
- Applications are reviewed by the NSLL Scholarship Committee, and families will receive a response within 7–10 days.
Important Notes
- Upon scholarship approval, families will receive a unique code to complete their child’s registration.
