January 27, 2024

This year's Player Evaluations will be held at the Launchpad indoor facility in San Rafael. A full schedule will be posted at a later date. A make-up date will also be announced in the future.

The purpose of player evaluations is to assess every participant with the goal of creating well balanced and competitive divisions. The teams in the Majors, AAA, & AA divisions are selected via draft. The teams in the 50/70, Single-A, and T-Ball divisions are assigned manually. Every registered participant will be on a team (hence why these are officially called Player Evaluations rather than Tryouts).

It is required that ALL players League Age 8-12 that want to play in the AA Division or higher attend tryouts. If your child is League Age 7 and you feel they are ready to play at the more competitive AA Level (Kid Pitch), it is required that they attend Player Evaluations. For players League Age 7 and younger for which the more competitive AA Division (Kid Pitch) is not yet appropriate, your season will begin soon after the player evaluations. Single-A, T-Ball, and T-Ball Kidz do not hold a tryout.

Good morning, NSLL Families,

We are excited to kick off our season with player evaluations this Saturday. As we are doing the evaluations differently this year to save getting rained on, please review the items below as well as the schedule. As always, feel free to send any questions to

  1. No Cleats. Wear regular shoes or turf shoes.
  2. Launchpad Waiver - You do not need to do the waiver if you have a Launchpad account. If not, please do the waiver asap if you don't have an account. Link here -
  3. Parents, please stay outside due to the lack of space in the launchpad. Don't worry about how little Johnnie or Susie doing. This is NOT a tryout but rather a way to try and ensure we have parity across our teams so everyone has a great experience.
  4. There will be a makeup session on Sunday during the Niners game! Kidding, the make up session is this Sunday, 1/28,  at 9a - 11am, location TBD but at either Hamann or Novato High Softball Field 9-10am will be for 10-12 year olds, and 11- 12 will be for 7-9 year olds that want to be evaluated for AA.
  5. We are asking assistant coaches not to attend!!  There is very limited space. We will have independent experts to help. If you as the manager can't go, please send an assistant.
  6. Launchpad is providing this free to NSLL. They will become a league sponsor. Please consider using their cages in the future to support Launchpad! NSLL is entirely non-profit, and the free facility use benefits the league and kids. Go launchpad!
