MANAGERS AND COACHES

Looking to make an impact in our local community?  Novato South Little League needs POSITIVE role models to serve as team Managers and Coaches, from T-Ball up to Majors. NSLL’s success is based in large part on the strength of its Managers and Coaches. The heart of the Little League experience is the relationship and bond between a Manager and each player.  Managers need to understand the mental and physical limitations of children of Little League age.  The game is a vehicle of learning and enjoyment for EVERY player entrusted to your care, and is not an end in itself.  A manager's sole responsibility is to help EVERY child learn, play, and grow as both players and individuals.

For those of you new to managing or coaching, the Board of Directors has assembled this job description to assist you in understanding what is expected by the League and in making you aware of some of the responsibilities that you have while managing in our League.

MANAGER OVERVIEW
A Manager's team is their own micro baseball organization for 3-4 months. Think of yourself as the owner, general manager, manager, scout, teacher, and overall role model for your young players. What happens over these few months depends on how seriously you take this commitment. Being positive and organized will take you far in gaining the respect and trust of both players and parents. The Novato South Little League Board of Directors can provide you with many sources of information for basic drills and practice organization techniques. The League will also provide clinics for managers and their coaches in addition to other positive coaching training.

COACH OVERVIEW
Many adult volunteers start their Little League “careers” as coaches. It’s a great way to get a feel for what is required to serve Little Leaguers in a way that develops character, baseball skills, and a life-long devotion to sports and fitness, without the extra responsibilities a manager takes on. A Little League Coach serves as an assistant to the team's manager, helping provide an enjoyable, memorable, and growing experience for all.

To be considered for an NSLL managerial position, please submit an application. These are required for all applicants regardless of the level of play (Tee-Ball through 50/70) and regardless of any previous manager or coaching positions held within NSLL or any other Little League. In addition, a complete background check per Little League policy is required.
