Last week, Little League International changed the cutoff date that is used to determine a player's "league age." While LL had originally intended to make the change effective in 2018, they recently decided to phase in the change starting now. For many players, the change will have no effect, while for others it will increase their league age.
In brief, if your child was born on or before 12/31/2005, his or her league age will be determined under the old cutoff date of 4/30. That is, their league age will be their age as of 4/30 of the season-year in question. If your child was born on or after 1/1/2006, the league age cutoff date is now 12/31. Thus, your child's league age will be their age as of 12/31 of the season/year in question. For many children, the change will increase their league age
For a specific explanation of the rule change, please see below, where we have copied the explanation given by LL as well as the new league age chart. To determine your player's 2015 league age, simply select the birth month column for your child, and drop down to the year of his/her birth; their 2015 league age will then be reflected at the far right.

Here is an explanation of the change provided by LL International:
FOR BASEBALL DIVISIONS ONLY
In April, 2014 the International Congress approved the new league age determination amendment for Little League Baseball®. To implement the new amendment, it was decided to include a three-year waiting period to execute the change, starting in 2018. Questions from the field were raised about the impact the change would have on players that were currently league age 8 under the traditional system. Using feedback from Little League® parents through our District Administrators, the Little League International Board of Directors adjusted the April-approved implementation strategy in order to modify the impact on all of our minor and major division players. The adjustment also allows for an easier transition for players in the early years of Little League participation.
As a result of this recent adjustment to the implementation strategy, effective immediately, any player born on or after January 1, 2006 who will turn the ages of 4-9 during the 2015 calendaryear will be eligible to participate in a local Little League program and will use the new age determination date of December 31 for the reminder of their Little League Baseball career. Players will still be assigned to a division based on local league divisional structure.
Consequently, players born prior to January 1, 2006 will continue to utilize the current age determination date of April 30for the remainder of their Little League career.

Managers and Coaches Wanted for the 2015 Spring Season!
NSLL’s success is based in large measure on the strength of its managers and coaches. The heart of Little League is what happens between the coaches and each player. You will be a teacher and role model. You will need to be sensitive to the mental and physical limitations of children of Little League age. The game is a vehicle of learning and enjoyment for every player entrusted to your care, and is not an end in itself. To accomplish this, you must:
Share our goal of maintaining a positive environment for your players and parents.
Make sure your coaches do the same.
Attend mandatory training sessions.
If you are interested in volunteering to manage please download the Manager Application packet in our Documents Section.
If you are interested in being an assistant coach download the Volunteer Application in our Documents section.
Manager applications are due no later than Nov. 30th
It seems like it was just yesterday when our graduating class were first learning how to hold the bat, run the right way, and not to have the whole team run to field their first ground ball (at once!). Now years later you all have not only become fine ball players but fine young men. With two baseball leagues and a plethora of sports and activities in Novato, we profoundly thank all of you for choosing Novato South. We hope you will continue to pursue your love of baseball in Babe Ruth and Highschool.
